2 Aug 2010I just found this fab blog today. Tonya Doughty is a photographer, scrapbooker, and amazing designer, by the looks of things.
I love some of her design pieces, like this:
But even more than that, I love this – it’s a concept I’ve thought about myself for ages now, but I’ve never seen anyone else do with quite so much awesomeness! Her ‘Remember This’ series features some awesome photos, with some great design and some wonderful messages that she wants to give to her daughters. I absolutely love it! You can check out more of them here.
Don’t forget to check out the the color me pretty posts when they come up on Decor8. They’re gorgeous
Just the one pic today. It’s been a while! This blog shall now be more regularly updated and used to showcase my personal designs here and there, though I prefer to have it showcase all sorts of other things too

28 Mar 2010It’s funny how, even in something as creative as craft & design, it becomes hard to innovate. Sometimes, we are so surrounded by the pretty things we’ve seen people create that we forget all about creating something new, or creating something for us because of what we think is beautiful. The time and the effort ends up being spent on figuring out how to create what someone else has created. And, unfortunately, with the way the internet works, we’re sometimes so keen for others’ approval that we try to create what they want to see, without really realising we’re doing it. It’s just human nature, of course, but it’s so interesting that such incredible creativity & innovation exists right alongside a need to do as others do. I’m not saying it’s any way wrong, because of course it’s also how we all learn, but I am saying it’s a fabulous exercise to try & do something different from time to time. Try writing. Try symmetry & graphic-style. Try freehand & scribbly. Try small pictures, or big pictures, white-space or layering. Try cute. Try elegant. Try to create something new, something different to everything on the first page of the online community where you share your creations. This week, I’ll be creating something different to everything I’ve seen lately, and for fun, I’ll also be channeling Paris romance

22 Mar 2010These two fabulous layouts (images are linked) inspire me with their amazing documentation of life using fabulous design. I’m strongly reminded of magazine/advertising style design by these, and I think that’s a direction I’m going to explore!

21 Mar 2010When I saw Alice In Wonderland, I was captivated by the visuals. Costumes, design, colours, settings, everything. Delicious. As soon as I saw this layout from ania-maria I recognised a little ‘Alice’ flair in it – I’d love to be channeling Alice in my design!

19 Jan 2010The start of a new year is always aflutter with lists – top things from 2009, goals for 2010. And, whilst the ‘bucket list’ has become kind of clichéd over the past few years, I still thought this article over at Digital Photography School was a great idea. Your photography bucket list. Those iconic photos you’ve seen and would love to take one day. High on my list is the beautiful-girl-in-a-pretty-dress-standing-in-a-field-of-long-grass photo, and something to do with kids and balloons. I’d love to do a postcard-Times-Square one day, and the sunset sun-flare thing too. What’s a photo you’d love to take?
